het is voor de hand liggend dat uw veiligheid al vóór de wandeling begint. Het is cruciaal dat iedereen goed is voorbereid op de risico’s die hem of haar te wachten staan. Het maken van tochten langs en op de levada’s routes van Madeira, evenals de overige wandelingen in de natuur, hebben hun risico’s. Daarom raden wij bijvoorbeeld aan iedere wandelaar dat ze kleding dragen, dat bestaat uit laagjes (wat makkelijk maakt om snel aan- en uit te trekken) en indien mogelijk ook “waterproof”. Verder ook het advies om zonnecrème te gebruiken, voldoende water mee te nemen, een zaklantaarn enz.

Onze getrainde wandel- en berggidsen hebben een speciale opleiding van minimaal èèn jaar gevolgd, dat gericht is op alles wat samenhangt met het wandelen op Madeira. Hierdoor kunnen we zowel u, als wandelaar, en de gidsen zelf, alsmede de verbeterde voorzieningen op de wandelroutes, een aangename en ontspannen wandel beleving garanderen.

Helaas zijn er in de afgelopen periodes, door andere organisaties, een grote aanbod van wandelingen met ongekwalificeerde gidsen. Deze onbevoegde “gidsen” kunnen risico’s met zich mee brengen voor de veiligheid van de wandelaars. Tevens zijn deze nep-gidsen niet in staat om een goede service, informatie en veiligheid te voorzien.

Mede hierdoor is er een toename aan ongelukken ontstaan en heeft deze situatie geleid tot grote bezorgdheid op Madeira. verzeker u ervan eerst dat uw gids gekwalificeerd of in opleiding is. Gidsen die dit jaar bezig zijn met hun opleiding mogen als officiële wandelgidsen groep begeleiden. Hiermee verdienen ze meer wandel-uren t.b.v hun gids opleiding.

Zowel gekwalificeerde gidsen als gidsen in opleiding zijn trots op hun beroep en hebben een grote liefde voor de natuur hier op het eiland. Zij willen dat met u delen.

Afgelopen jaren is het aantal wandel-groepen op Madeira sterk gegroeid. Het eiland trekt ieder jaar meer groepen aan, die wij graag verwelkomen. Helaas sommige van deze groepen hadden hun eigen wandel-leider mee, die geen (Madeira) ervaring had, en weigerden om gebruik te maken van een officiële Madeira wandelgids. Volgens de Portugese wetgeving is dit niet toegestaan en daardoor illegaal. Bovendien brengt dit grote risico’s met zich mee (op het gebied van veiligheid).

For our daily walks we receive participants from all over Europe, and together with our (bilingual) guides are we pleased to share the passion for the nature with them. Thanks to the participant’s enthusiasm and motivation we experience great fun each time we walk the Levada´s of Madeira with them.

Walking with groups is sharing the joy of nature.

When a group or organization contacts us (regardless the nationality) we start designing a special program according to the needs of the group. We first discuss with the group leader and all the participants the following items:

• Type of accommodation plus wishes;
• Location;
• Dates and Times;
• A program to ensure that all the wishes from the group are met.

During this process we are in continuous contact with each other to build together the best program.

Each time when we welcome groups to Madeira Island, it becomes a new challenge for us. Each group has its own designed / tailor-made program. Groups can stay in various kind of accommodations, from local Residences to 5-star hotels. Nature Meetings will prepare a program, before the group confirms their visit to Madeira, of which we are confident it will guarantee an enjoyable time.

Groups are not only from various countries, but also from organizations, such as: walking groups, Sport organization, Associations (Bridge, Dancing, Yoga etc), local/private business, national institutions, schools, media, family/friends, etc.

Whatever the background and needs are, it is always a great pleasure for us to design, arrange and carry out groups programs on Madeira.

The airport, that was not affected except it was closed on the day of the floods, is fully operational and all the main roads are now open to the public. Unfortunately there are still some locations that are isolated (Tabua, Serra da Agua and Encumeada), therefore we advice everyone to make first inquiries before traveling towards these areas.

Many footpaths on Madeira had problems with fallen trees and landslides; however the majority of these walks are now repaired and accessible to the public.

Nature Meetings daily walking program is now fully operational, with the exception of the full day walk on Sunday: “Slopes and Valleys of Calheta” and Wednesday: “Laurisilva Landscapes”. The Full day walk on Sunday has been removed from our program and we only offer our half day Levada walk: “Amazing Vistas”. The full day Levada walk on Wednesday is replaced with a Laurisilva Levada walk from Santo da Serra to Portela (this is temporarily, as the original walk from Ribeiro Frio to Portela should be open in May 2010).

We advice all walkers on Madeira prepare themselves for the walk they intent to do, as there can be obstacles on the walking paths, and be aware that it can be slippery as it requires some time to dry out.

In particular, it is crucial that people don’t do a Levada walk on their own!! There might be unexpected situations that can result in a premature end of your holiday her on Madeira. Therefore we (including the authorities on Madeira) strongly suggest to make use of the services of a walk guide through the various qualified walking organization.

On January 12, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti. With these tragic events in Haiti, the guides at Nature Meetings decided to donate all the money that they received during the Madeira Walking Festival to the International Red Cross. As this gesture is very much appreciated, the management of Nature Meetings decided to triple the amount donated by the guides.

Others around the world are joining efforts to assist the earthquake victims. Your donation can help disaster victims rebuild their lives and their communities.

Nature Meetings, em colaboração com a Associação Promoção da Madeira, com a ACIF e com alguns grupos hoteleiros, fotógrafos e Agências de Viagens, está a organizar no próximo dia 21 de Novembro de 2009 uma excursão de um dia em que o objectivo é fotografar vários pontos turísticos na ilha da Madeira.

A Região Autónoma da Madeira é considerada uma das melhores e mais belas localizações para fotografia na Europa. O convite é feito a fotógrafos amadores ou profissionais, residentes ou não e, no caso dos segundos, como complemento da sua estadia na região. Um fotógrafo profissional local irá acompanhar, orientar e sugerir como melhor captar certas e determinadas imagens durante a excursão.

A partir das 09.00 iremos recolher todos os participantes do seu hotel em mini-autocarros. Em cada mini-autocarro um fotógrafo profissional fluente em Português e Inglês irá acompanhar o grupo.

Programa:
09:45 horas – Pico do Areeiro – visita de 30 minutos.
10:45 horas – Vereda dos Balcões – Duração total: 90 minutos.
13:00 horas – Almoço na Quinta do Furão (incluído no preço) + pequeno passeio.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira is one of the best photogenic locations in Europe. For both amateur and professional photographers we offer to combine their visit to Madeira Islands with a Full Day excursion. A professional local photographer will provide photo coaching and guide you to locations helping you take full advantage of the opportunities presents during the excursion.

Starting at 09.00hrs we will collect all participants from their hotel accommodation with mini buses. On each mini bus a local (English speaking) professional photographer will accompany the group.

Voor onze dagtochten krijgen we deelnemers uit alle windstreken van Europa. Voor onze (meertalige) gidsen is het een groot genoegen om samen met hen onze passie voor de Madeiriaanse natuur te delen. Dankzij het enthousiasme van de deelnemers ervaren wij iedere keer een grote voldoening als wij met hen een tocht maken langs de Levada’s van Madeira.

Tochten maken met groepen is het samen ondergaan van de schoonheid van de natuur.

Als een groep of een organisatie ons benadert (ongeacht de nationaliteit) beginnen wij met een speciaal programma te ontwerpen overeenkomstig de wensen van de groep. Allereerst bespreken we met de groepsleiding en de deelnemers de volgende onderdelen:

• soort van accommodaties , plus eventuele wensen
• verblijfplaatsen
• data en tijdstippen
• een programma dat rekening houdt met alle wensen

Gedurende dit proces is er een voortdurend contact met de groep om samen tot het best mogelijke programma te komen.

Iedere keer, als wij een groep op Madeira verwelkomen, betekent het voor ons een nieuwe uitdaging. Voor elke groep komt er een eigen, op maat gemaakt, programma. De groepen kunnen verblijven in diverse soorten accommodaties, van plaatselijke eenvoudige onderkomens tot 5sterren hotels. Voordat de groep hun bezoek aan Madeira bevestigt willen wij een programma voorbereid hebben,waarvan wij overtuigd zijn,dat zulks een prettig verblijf garandeert.
